I must admit, becoming more confident in God is something I am always working on. The truth is, I want to be confident in God at all times but there are times when doubt gets in the way.
What do I mean by being confident in God? To me, this means that I trust that he will do what he says. It means I put my faith in him believing that what his word says can be my reality, even if I don’t feel like it. You may be unsure of the final outcome of a situation you are facing now but trusting God is a matter of deciding to believe in him anyhow.
I love knowing that …” it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose”(Philippians 2:13). This means that even though I am not always confident in God, He is working on that confidence in me.
And as Paul said to the Philippians, “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ (Phil. 1:6). We are not completed, we are works in progress. He is continually shaping us.
If we desire to be more confident in him we can ask for him to work on that in us.
The Bible says, and this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him” (1 John 5: 14-15).
