5 Psalms for Peace in Times of Chaos

Peace in times of chaos, a state of mind we all seek. A state of mind everyone is chasing. Some turn to the latest meditation techniques but believers turn to the Word of God. Like David when he was going through tumultuous times, believers have the Word to give them joy in times of unrest. God wants us to trust him when we are in times of chaos.

Psalm 4:8 says, “In peace, I will lie down and sleep,  for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.

For so many persons it is when they lay down at nights that all that is wrong in their world comes to mind. During the business of the day they can be forgotten but in the stillness of the night when there are no distractions. All anxious thoughts fight for significance. But David says, “in peace, he will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, makes me dwell in safety”. These are not just words but God’s promise of allowing us to dwell in safety.

Psalm 131: 2, “But I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am content.

When you know that God has your situation in control you can calm and quiet yourself. When the enemy tries to get you riled up with all that is wrong in your life and the world these are two valuable words, calm and quiet.

Psalm 116:7, “Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.

Whatever disrupts your rest, always remember that you can return to your place of rest in God by dwelling on the word.

Psalm 119:165, “Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.

Peace is found by those who love the word of God. The knowledge of God’s promises surely brings peace to the mind.

Psalm 29:11, “The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.

There is a blessing of peace available from the Lord to his people. Whatever is disrupting your peace today, I pray the word of God will permeate your heart and you will find rest in reading and meditating on these promises.
