The concept of determination comes in very handy as this challenge progresses. Like everything that is out of our norm or new to us, it takes determination to see it through.
Determination in my estimation is setting our minds to achieve something and pursuing it regardless of difficulty.
One article from disicipleshiptools.com describes determination as “the ability to make difficult decisions and accomplish God’s goals based on the truths of God’s Word, regardless of the resistance that may be encountered. It is the ability to set ourselves toward Godly pursuits, and not allow ourselves to be distracted or discouraged”
Have you been determined to achieve anything lately? Or have you started some stuff but doubt, fear or wavering got in your way? The enemy majors in throwing these types of obstacles in our way to keep us from godly pursuits.
In an earlier post, I wrote about the need to live outside our comfort zone. I recognize to do this we have to be determined. We can have all the intention to live outside our comfort zones but when the obstacles come at us it is our determination that will keep us from quitting.
Since we are still at the beginning of a new year, that phase where we make all our goals and resolutions, we should definitely aspire to the characteristic of determination in all that we set out to accomplish this year.
This means that when times get tough, we will still pursue it. When it seems impossible, we will still pursue it. When we are afraid, we will still pursue it. When the enemy throws stumbling block after stumbling block, we will remember that we have a Savior who has already won the victory, so we can accomplish anything we set out to do for him.
