New beginnings come at us whether we are ready for them or not. It could be, facing a new year alone, a new job, a new relationship, moving to a new place or even taking on a new project. No one is immune to them. As you take on your new challenge, take the word of God with you as encouragement. There are many Bible verses to guide our new beginnings but for this season I have selected three.
David praised God for a new beginning in Psalm 40: 3,
He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord. Psalm 40:3
It may not be a new song God has given you instead, it could be a fresh vision for the New Year. Whatever it is, be thankful because he has your best interest at heart.
God revealed to the Israelites in Isaiah 43: 18-19 his plan to do a new thing amongst them.
But forget all that—
it is nothing compared to what I am going to do.
For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
We have a tendency to want to dwell on what has already happened. A past success, a pass failure, can often be a defining moment in our lives from which we never recover.
God was describing to the Israelites marvelous things he had already done on their behalf but he was telling them not to dwell on those things because he was about to do something greater in their lives.
I want to apply this principle to my new situations this year. I don’t want to be held hostage by what has already happened. Yes, there are lessons to be learned from both failures and successes but let’s not dwell there. Take the lessons and use them to build a path to success.
Lamentations 3:22 remind us that as we face our new obstacles or opportunity, God’s faithfulness never changes.
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end, they are new every morning, great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22)
Whatever the path of your new journey, regardless of what will change, one thing will remain the same, God’s faithfulness. His faithfulness is our secure place as we start our pursuit of newness.
Embrace your new beginning with God’s word as your guide.
