Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Proverbs 4:25 ESV
One of the great things I observed about the recent Olympics was how the successful athletes were able to keep their focus. Each athlete had his own way of maintaining his focus. I am sure they were aware of their opponents but it was in their best interest to focus on what they needed to do to achieve the prize.
It gets very easy to look around at others and the progress they are making and compare where you are to them. The success of others is not your success and you should attempt to keep your focus on the path that God has you on. Their path is not your path. It is a given that your story will take you along a different route.
The characteristics that you need to develop are not the same as anyone else. The transformation and renewing of the mind is different for each of us. That is why our journey to God’s promises will never be the same.
Remember His promises
Whenever you feel like you are veering off the path that God has you on, always remind yourself of God’s promises and vision to you. We have easier that ever before access to the word of God. We can instantly get the encouragement we need by turning to his word.I personally keep a journal that I can pull out and remind myself of conversations with God and scriptures from the word whenever my journey becomes blurry.
Keep working hard
As a child of God, you want to showcase the best of him and you can do that by being excellent at your work for him. Put your mind to all that you are doing and ignore the negativity that the enemy tries to distract you with. We hope for what is not yet seen and we work hard to achieve it. When the challenges come we do our best to press on to achieve our purpose in him.
Everyone needs a bit of encouragement
Surround yourself with people who will encourage you, even if it is one person. Life is a tough journey and we were not meant to go it alone. Sometimes the support of a friend can make our journey easier to travel. On the other hand, if there are persons in your life that do not encourage you to pursue your dreams, maybe they are not the right persons to share your dreams with.
Isn’t it amazing that as soon as you decide to get down and focus, distractions will pop up in one form or another. Sometimes distractions are just the enemy trying to get you to take your focus off the work you are doing for God.Some distractions may even seem like good things to do but at the end of the day may be keeping you away from the main thing that God has called you to do.
Train your eyes on Jesus
If you look at other people, you’ll be disappointed because you’ll spend your life comparing yourself to how this or that person lives instead of focusing on how God wants you to live. Dr Jack Graham, The Importance of Keeping Your Focus on Jesus
No matter what, the best answer is always to keep your eyes on Jesus. Remember his sacrifice for us. Remember that at the end of the day he wants to have a relationship with you. Whatever you do must be building you up that relationship with him and at the same time helping others to grow too.
