Moments with God

You can learn any skill in twenty hours is the idea put forward in the book, The First 20 hours: How to learn any thing fast. The author Josh Kaufman writes that, we can become good at any skill in 20 hours. Not that we become a pro, but we develop a level of proficiency that makes the skill usable to us.

It got me thinking about what would happen if we gave consistent, dedicated time to our relationship with God. What if we decide to spend time consistently with him everyday regardless of what our day holds.

I have learnt the hard way that my relationship with God will not grow unless I spend time with him. If I want to experience the benefits of a relationship with God then I have to do the things that will keep me connected and close with him. I have to consistently study the word, pray and live in obedience to his word.

One of my favorite women in the bible is found in Luke 2:36, the prophetess Anna. She became a widow only seven years after marrying her husband. After loosing her husband she spent the rest of her life at the temple worshiping God with fasting and prayer, day and night. I admire her dedication to what she believed in. As a result, she was blessed with being one of the first persons to see baby Jesus. Such an honor!

To fulfill our purpose we have to stay in a close relationship with God, because the enemy is seeking any opportunity he can get to create doubt in our minds about what we believe God is calling us to do. In the natural word, if we are seeking to maintain any relationship, we know it is important to spend time together learning about each other.

Our relationship with God thrives on spending time with him . Jesus gives us an example of how to do this in Mark 1: 35, “ Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got us, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Emphasizing the importance of finding that quite time, to be alone with God to speak to him and hear from him.

Joshua 1:8 also says “ Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. This verse comes with the promise that if we will be successful when we immerse our selves in the word of God

When we stay in tune with him, then we will know the nature of God, his desires, his promises that are applicable to our lives.
